I was looking for an article to write and asked a coworker, "What are some of the problems your friends have complained about when looking for work?" Her response was, "Why didn't I get the job after a great interview," was a common question she heard over and over again.
When I gave her the answer she stood there looking at me as if I had two heads. She could not believe it was that simple.
Here is what I told her....
Most people believe their education, skills, knowledge and experience will get them the job but that is no longer true. What many employers are now focusing on in addition to those items I just mentioned is Cultural Fit.
Companies now understand anyone can basically be trained to do a job. What they cannot train them in is how to treat people, talk with and to people and everything involved with developing social skills and business etiquette.
I still got the dear in the headlight look and literally two minutes later as I was performing my usual reading, I found an article that mentioned exactly what I had just told her.
I want you to read this article, "How Recruiters Source and Vet Candidates in 2016" because it is going to help you to better understand what recruiters are looking for in potential employees.
Until next time!
